Summary
The Equipment and Facilities Maintenance Specialist at Bud's Goods of NJ plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous operation of production and facility systems. This role is responsible for executing preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment, minimizing downtime, and supporting a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems, and thrives in a fast-paced production setting.
The Equipment and Facilities Maintenance Specialist reports to the Production Director.
Job Duties
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on production equipment according to manufacturer specifications and internal schedules.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to restore functionality promptly.
- Respond to equipment failures or malfunctions in real-time to minimize production downtime.
- Maintain a log of maintenance tasks, repairs, and part replacements. Record all packaging equipment maintenance issues and how the issues were resolved.
- Work closely with production teams to anticipate and resolve equipment concerns proactively.
- Manage spare parts inventory on site and in collaboration with Bud's Goods' Senior Engineer in Massachusetts
- Prepare and submit purchase requests for maintenance parts and tools.
- Coordinate vendor repairs when necessary.
- Support facility-related maintenance including HVAC, lighting, basic plumbing, and general repairs.
- Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and relocation as needed.
- Ensure all equipment is compliant with safety regulations and internal quality standards.
- Participate in the development and refinement of maintenance SOPs and training materials.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and maintenance efficiency.
- Regularly inspect facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement, and take appropriate action to address them.
- Develop and maintain the preventative maintenance schedules, and provide confirmation that preventative maintenance work is up to date for all equipment
- Maintain the proper record keeping in regards to receiving quotes, repair service field notes, work orders, and other documents related to facility maintenance.
- Participate in the Safety Committee to identify and develop procedures to mitigate risks and promote a safe work environment.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and control systems.
- Hands-on experience with tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in using preventative maintenance programs and CMMS systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office apps.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements.
Experience and Education
- 3+ years experience with industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and CMMS systems is a plus.
- Experience with automated or cannabis processing equipment highly desirable.
