Summary
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses ultrasound technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the continuum.
YOUR ROLE WOULD ENCOMPASS:

- Performs ultrasound procedures to include abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, small parts, interventional and Doppler.
- Uses sterile technique as required for interventional procedures.
- Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and transducer selection.
- Competently operates ultrasound equipment and support system including PACS.
- Utilizes department computer systems, files, PACS, etc. to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
- Properly cares for and images patients of all ages: maintains patient confidentiality.
- Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
- Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
- Participates in the departments quality improvement plan as required.
- Cleans disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate vendors as needed.
- Keeps work area properly supplied.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES (PROVEN PERFORMANCE IN):
- Graduation from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalency required
- Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or candidacy for ARDMS registry within 6 months of registry eligibility required
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Minimum of one-year experience required
